I'll play it more and give more feedback but here are my initial thoughts so far. This is even worse in terms of melees as they all felt the same aside from a few animation differences. Because this is not really the case in the Demo, all the guns feel the same aside from the deagle and that big revolver, both being guns you get once. One would leave a bullet hole, the other would blow their head clean off. In project nexus, you would feel which guns were powerful and which werent because of how much damage they did to the target. I feel like the gore IS there its just hard to do enough damage to see it when most guns feel identical.īecause there was pretty much no gore, the weapons felt like they had no difference between each other. And I dislike how when you beat the bosses, you just let them lie on the ground instead of brutally murdering them. But through the entire play through there was almost no gore or anything which made kills a lot less satisfying. The only instance of gore I had was when I shot a grunt in the head and it exploded which was a sick moment. Whether it be having to constantly drop guns and the melee combat being a bit slow and clunky. The demo feels like there are constant "interruptions" to the flow of killing. The great thing about the old Project Nexus was that once you started killing, you could just keep going which would just feel amazing when paired with some sick music. I also could not find a reload button to reload the default weapons. This way, you can actually prepare for the next room and stock up on ammunition after a massacre. A suggestion I would make is to introduce a mechanic where if you pick up a gun that is the same type as the one you are currently holding you just get an extra magazine. While I get that this is a bit more authentic to the animations, it really gets annoying in bigger levels, especially the boss fight one. You constantly have to drop guns pick new ones up multiple times in a single room. The one big "gameplay" issue is how you can't just pick up a single gun and keep firing and killing. It was only when I made Sanford attack one of them and just spammed melee attacks when I saw the "execute" option as the boss was stunned. Not to mention how the Boss battle took me ages since I had no idea what would actually hurt the bosses. Maybe its because I'm on Keyboard and Mouse and the controls are designed around a Controller. I played the old project nexus on newgrounds and this version had controls that were kinda convoluted. I know this will probably be fixed but the game does not do a great job of telling you how you should be playing the game. I was following the development of this game for a while and here is some of my feedback from playing the demo.
